Wenn es um umfangreiche Themen, komplexe Zusammenh\u00e4nge und abstrakte Informationen geht, dann behilft man sich h\u00e4ufig mit Mind Maps oder mit Concept Maps. Der Unterschied zwischen den beiden Darstellungsformen ist nicht riesig, aber vorhanden:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Eine <strong>Mind Map<\/strong> geht von einem zentralen Knoten aus und verzweigt dann in Unterthemen, ist also hierarchisch organisiert. Sie eignet sich sich gut f\u00fcr das Brainstorming, als Notiz-Tool oder als Lernhilfe.<\/li>\n<li>Eine <strong>Concept Map<\/strong> ist netzartig aufgebaut, sie erlaubt also Verbindungen zwischen beliebigen Knoten. Dadurch kann man unterschiedlichste Zusammenh\u00e4nge visualisieren, wobei die Verbindungen in der Regel beschriftet werden, um den Zusammenhang genauer zu spezifizieren. Eine Concept Map ist somit flexibler, ihre Erstellung am Computer aber leicht komplexer, weil die Anordnung der Knoten anspruchsvoller wird.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Mit <a href=\"http:\/\/www.workshop.ch\/openmind\/2008\/11\/16\/xmind-professionelle-mind-mapping-software-fur-windows-mac-os-und-linux\/\">XMind<\/a> gibt es eine sehr \u00fcberzeugende Mind Mapping Software mit Open-Source-Lizenz, die auch f\u00fcr Concept Maps taugt und somit ein gutes All-in-one-Tool darstellt. Ich m\u00f6chte in diesem Artikel aber auf eine Alternative eingehen, welche sich ganz auf Concept Maps fokussiert und daf\u00fcr zus\u00e4tzlich innovative Pr\u00e4sentationsmethoden zul\u00e4sst: das <a href=\"http:\/\/vue.tufts.edu\/\">Visual Understanding Environment (VUE)<\/a>, das an der Tufts University entwickelt wird.<\/p>\n<p>Auch VUE arbeitet mit Knoten, die \u00fcber dynamische Verbinder verkn\u00fcpft werden. Man kann allerdings nicht bloss Netze gestalten, sondern den einzelnen Knoten auch digitale Ressourcen (z.B. Bilder) zuordnen und so Content direkt in der Concept Map speichern.<\/p>\n<p>Ein weiteres Konzept sind Pathways: Sie erlauben es, den Benutzer zu f\u00fchren, indem man ihm einen bestimmten Pfad durch die Concept Map vorschl\u00e4gt. Mit VUE kann man sogar eigentliche Pr\u00e4sentationen halten, die sich nicht von (einfachen) PowerPoint-Pr\u00e4sentationen unterscheiden: Die Knoten werden dann zu Slides, und man kann interaktiv von der Map auf einzelne Konten zoomen und wieder zur\u00fcck.<\/p>\n<p>Man sollte sich durch die einfache Benutzeroberfl\u00e4che von VUE nicht t\u00e4uschen lassen: In den Men\u00fcs und in den zahlreichen Palettenfenstern verbergen sich viele Zusatzfunktionen, und man muss schon ein paar Stunden investieren, um sich mit dem Tool vertraut zu machen. Daf\u00fcr erh\u00e4lt man ein sch\u00f6n gemachtes, leistungsf\u00e4higes Werkzeug, um komplexe Zusammenh\u00e4nge selbst zu verstehen und anderen zu vermitteln. VUE bietet auch Mechanismen, um mit gr\u00f6sseren Maps umzugehen und auf verteilte Ressourcen zuzugreifen. Sch\u00f6n ist auch die Integration in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.workshop.ch\/openmind\/2008\/04\/09\/zotero-material-fr-wissenschaftliche-arbeiten-in-firefox-sammeln-und-verwalten\/\">Zotero<\/a>, welche es erlaubt, aus Materialsammlungen Concept Maps zu erstellen.
