Inzwischen haben mehrere Zeitschriften die Probe aufs Exempel gemacht und in Vergleichstests die Wikipedia gegen die etablierten Enzyklop\u00e4dien antreten lassen &#8211; und die Wikipedia hat dabei immer \u00fcberraschend gut abgeschnitten.<\/p>\n<p>Im Dezember 2005 publizierte die Zeitschrift <em>Nature<\/em> einen Artikel mit der Quintessenz, dass die Wikipedia nicht wesentlich mehr Fehler enth\u00e4lt als die Online-Ausgabe der <em>Encyclopaedia Britannica:<\/em> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nature.com\/nature\/journal\/v438\/n7070\/full\/438900a.html\">\u201cInternet encyclopaedias go head to head\u201d<\/a> (Nature 438, S. 900f). <a href=\"http:\/\/corporate.britannica.com\/britannica_nature_response.pdf\">Die <em>Encyclopaedia Britannica<\/em> kritisierte die Methodik und die Bewertung des Vergleichs scharf<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nature.com\/press_releases\/Britannica_response.pdf\"><em>Nature<\/em> hielt jedoch an der Aussage fest<\/a>, worauf die <em>Britannica<\/em> sogar Zeitungsanzeigen gegen den <em>Nature<\/em>-Artikel schaltetet, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nature.com\/nature\/britannica\/eb_advert_response_final.pdf\">was <em>Nature<\/em> zu einer weiteren Stellungnahme veranlasste<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Zwei Jahre sp\u00e4ter <a href=\"http:\/\/www.stern.de\/magazin\/heft\/604448.html?q=wikipedia\">liess der <em>Stern<\/em> einen \u00e4hnlichen Vergleich durchf\u00fchren<\/a>. Dabei wurde darauf geachtet, dass die Artikel aus m\u00f6glichst verschiedenen Fachgebieten stammen (<em>Nature<\/em> hatte insbesondere naturwissenschaftliche Artikel verglichen, was gewisse Schw\u00e4chen der Wikipedia in Sozial- und Geisteswissenschaften unber\u00fccksichtigt liess). Das kommerzielle Lexikon, an dem die Wikipedia diesmal gemessen wurde, war die kostenpflichtige Online-Ausgabe des 15-b\u00e4ndigen <em>Brockhaus<\/em>, bewertet wurden Richtigkeit, Vollst\u00e4ndigkeit, Aktualit\u00e4t und Verst\u00e4ndlichkeit. Das Resultat des Vergleichs viel noch deutlicher zugunsten der Wikipedia aus: Sie schlug den <em>Brockhaus<\/em> deutlich in allen Kriterien mit Ausnahme der Verst\u00e4ndlichkeit.
