Es geht um die Frage, ob diejenigen Unternehmen, welche die Leitungen des Internets bauen und betreiben, auch dar\u00fcber bestimmen d\u00fcrfen, welche Daten sie transportieren und welche nicht.<\/p>\n<p>Net Neutrality meint das Prinzip, dass die Benutzer des Internets absolut frei darin sind, welche Daten sie senden oder empfangen. Net Neutrality impliziert den Verzicht auf jegliche Zensur oder Benachteiligung bestimmter Inhalte oder Protokolle &#8211; seien diese Eingriffe nun politisch oder wirtschaftlich motiviert.<\/p>\n<p>Diese Neutralit\u00e4t der Internet-Infrastruktur ist durch das neue amerikanische Telekommunikationsgesetz gef\u00e4hrdet. Auf dieser gesetzlichen Grundlage k\u00f6nnten Telekommunikationskonzerne beispielsweise beginnen, gewisse Daten gegen entsprechendes Entgelt bevorzugt zu transportieren &#8211; auf Kosten von Daten nicht-zahlender Anbieter.<\/p>\n<p>Es ist absehbar, dass ein solches Gesetz den freien und gleichberechtigten Zugang zum Internet massiv gef\u00e4hrden w\u00fcrde. Im besten Fall w\u00fcrde es zu einer Zweiklassengesellschaft im Internet f\u00fchren, im schlechtesten Fall zu einer kompletten Ausgrenzung von nicht zahlenden Content-Providern. Das Internet w\u00fcrde zu einem Massenmedium in dem Sinn, dass Inhalte nur noch von wenigen grossen Unternehmen produziert w\u00fcrden, w\u00e4hrend heute das Internet ja genau davon lebt, dass sich jeder aktiv beteiligen kann.<\/p>\n<p>Die Gef\u00e4hrdung der Net Neutrality ruft nicht nur B\u00fcrgerrechtler auf den Plan, sondern auch grosse Unternehmen wie beispielsweise Google (vgl. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/help\/netneutrality.html\">A Guide to Net Neutrality for Google Users<\/a>). Auch der Erfinder des World Wide Web <a href=\"http:\/\/dig.csail.mit.edu\/breadcrumbs\/node\/144\">Tim Berners-Lee hat klar Stellung bezogen<\/a>.
