Mit dem Kanton Thurgau bewegt sich eine weitere öffentliche Verwaltung in Richtung Open Source Software (vgl. Genf). Anfang 2004 war der entsprechende Grundsatzentscheid gefällt worden, Ende 2004 wurden als erstes Projekt die Migration von Windows auf SuSE Linux abgeschlossen.
